What is a Pool Cover Pump?

A pool cover pump is an electric submersible pump that is placed in the rain water that has accumulated on top of the swimming pool's cover, usually during the winter months or the rainy season. It is a durable device that is made of high-impact plastic and a non-metallic housing. It has an adapter for attaching an ordinary garden hose to remove the water a distance to a drainage location.  

Just hook up the garden hose to the pump, turn it on, and watch it quickly and easily remove the water from your cover to wherever you have set the hose to drain. It's that easy!    

Why Use a Pool Cover Pump? 

A pool cover prevents rainwater, snow, leaves, and debris from getting into the pool during the winter. However water kept out of the pool collects on the cover, which can eventually become stagnant, provide a breeding ground for disease, mosquitoes, and insect pests, and become a general health hazard.

The water weight can also eventually damage the cover and the pool walls itself, or even cause the cover to collapse and sink into the pool, bringing the dirty water and debris with it. This may necessitate the need to have the pool professionally cleaned, which can be expensive.

Getting rid of all the accumulated water on top of the swimming pool cover can be a frustrating task!

Indeed, some pool owners are tempted to just dump it all into the pool and then deal with cleaning it up later.
